New Hulk Movie CGI Model - Yay or Nay?

I didn't have time to do Cover to Cover today, so check back tomorrow for that. In the mean time, there was a new Hulk trailer last week that, obviously, showed off the new version of the Hulk. It got me to thinking about which Hulk I preferred and I'm still a bit torn on it.

The newer one looks better, animation wise, simply because it's been four or five years since the other Hulk came out. However, I don't like the colour scheme or bushy, bed head hair and chocolate chip nipples he's got going on. The face looks a bit small for the body, as well.

The old one, well, looks old. Like comparing 90's CGI to the newer stuff. But he's got the size and bulk that I'd associate with the Hulk and, aside from just a little too much green tone, the right colour scheme.

Honestly, I'd love to see them smash the two together, but I guess I'll have to wait for them to remake this same movie again in 5 years time. I think I liked Banna more than Norton, but, to be fair, I haven't seen Norton's movie yet either. Banna just seemed like a better fit for Bruce Banner to me.

You can check out the new trailer after the jump, but, for those who have seen it, what's your take on it? New Hulk or Old Hulk? Norton or Banna? Lee's movie was a bit too much drama and not enough smashing, but I still enjoyed it. The new movie's trailer looks great, but so did the early Banner Hulk-ing out trailer for the first movie. Hard to say how this will turn out. They better not spend an hour on the origin that we just saw in the last movie.

I think the Hulk is one of the hardest characters to get right. You look at somebody like the Thing, his costume can be blocky and unpolished because it fits with how viewers imagine the character. Hulk on the other hand would look ridiculous if not done with CGI- no offense to Lue Furrigno. IMHO it's a lose-lose situation. The old Hulk which matched the character pretty well, looked too CGI. The new Norton Hulk looks like a roided-up jolly green giant. So... I'm going to have to go with Hulk Hogan on this one.

I dunno, the new Hulk looks more like a bodybuilder - thin chin and a torso that's less bulk and more muscle, while the old Hulk has a fatter chin with a bulkier torso. I'd choose the older one, even though the newer one's hair is more Ferrigno-esque.

Also, no: I don't like the choco-nipples either!

That trailer was very urban. I hope the Hulk visits other places (like BARRAN LANDSCAPES), because that's always where I think he revolves around - places that are empty that can leave him alone.

I like the new one better since it looks "realer". The old one seems like it was torn out of the comics and put in the real world while new one looks like it is from the real world.

Also, Steve Buscemi FTW.(I prefer Norton, so far)

I discussed it with a friend and he was of the opinion the CGI wasn't finished. Personally I always favour the newest version of anything, well mostly, over old simply because of the natural assumption anything new must be better than the old. On this occasion if you put a gun to my head I'd say the old Hulk, and that's not because I'm Australian (10 years ago: Eric Bana a serious actor?. Yeah right). An even older Hulk would be better ie Maestro :)

One factor that occurrs to me is that the face should differ based on the actor. Think the actors face bulked up. The new one looks too gaunt, maybe because as I said Edward Norton is thinner than Eric Bana, and it's too dark anyway to judge equally.

The trailer itself. Well abomination ends up looking like the Scorpion King. The actors face stuck on a horrendous CG body. I was going to say it's abominable but didn't and then I realised who I was talking about, huh :). I would expect a good trailer to introduce the main character, a bit of back story, and a hint that he has a new enemy in the future. This looks like the whole movie. I'd be willing to say from the look that the big clash between them is in the last 20-30 minutes. I don't recall the Spiderman 3 trailer letting on that every villain and hero gets together in the building site at the end. We got the occasional glimpse of Venom attacking Spidey in what turned out to be a building site, but I don't think anyone got the whole end plot from the trailer.

oh and when I saw Bruce Banner falling from a helicopter my first thought was "Is this The Hulk, or the Ultimates?"

Loving the new hulk. He just looks a lot more threatening and you think 'he could be good, he could be bad' that's always the way I've thought of the hulk. Much prefer the darker colour scheme.
