WONDER WOMAN #18
"No offense is meant. We know you can help your hideous appearance."
The build up with Wonder Woman trying to interrupt and ask if the statue was supposed to be of her in the preceding pages really helped build up this 'reveal'. Kind of surprised she mentions Donna Troy over Wonder Girl. As far as I know, Donna and Wonder Woman haven't really interracted in a while or, at the least, not as much as her and Cassie.
BOOSTER GOLD #7
"History will be OURS"
This is the most ecclectic group of super villains I've ever seen. I can't wait to see how Johns explains their coming together to form this Time Stealers group and who is responsible for the group name.
MIGHTY AVENGERS #10
"A lot more people hate you than hate me."
It's sad that Dr Doom isn't actually lying here. Funny as hell, but sad nonetheless.
"Oh crap."
The look on Thing's face after Sentry crushes the phone is priceless. It's the broad realization he's about to get his ass handed to him. That or he has to buy a new phone.
ATOMIC ROBO #6
"My flippant are supposed to trick you into making a mistake, not trick you into beating me senseless."
The entire issue was filled with little random comments like these from Atomic Robo and it would be hard to really post every single one. I love this style of humour, so this book is a joy for me to read and I was afraid this action packed issue would skimp on the humour, but I should know not to doubt this book by now. I was going to post the "Atomic Robo Volume 2 Coming 2008" ad in the back of the book, as that is the best news I've heard all week, but decided to let it go with a simple announcement.
"I hate vampire the dimension."
This was a two page spread from the back-up story in Atomic Robo this month. It just gave a little credibility to Jenkins (the guy Robo is talking to here) and was pretty funny with the random vampire trying to bite the non-living metal robot as Robo talks to Jenkins.
THUNDERBOLTS #119
"No words, not even sound effects, needed for this badass display."
Ellis actually made me like Swordsman this issue and I was even following his exploits in the previous creators' run on Thunderbolts before the soft reboot when Ellis and Deodato took over. Shame that he's going to probably revert to loser status once the telepaths stop messing with his head.
"This time I'm still holding onto it."
There's not much I can say about this. Swordsman follows up on his warm up with the guards with this skewering of Venom. Just look at the purty pictures and ignore my lack of a description!
WOLVERINE #63
"Mystique is the best there is at what she does..."
And what she does is give Logan his trademark catchphrase. I honestly am not that knowledgable of Wolverine's past to know if this is the first time he would have heard that quote or if he was using it back in earlier adventures and this is just coincidence on Mystique's part. I'd like to believe they are making this the origin of that line and found it funny in that context at least.
NOVA #11
"Warlock (the other one) Returns"
Not much to say about this moment other than I thought it was a great splash page reveal for the return of
Warlock.
THE WALKING DEAD #47
"This is my rifle, this is my gun, this is for zombies, this is for fun."Andrea's return caught me off guard, as I figured they'd be long gone by now. She isn't back for small talk though and, while you can't see it here, she kills like half the enemy force, including the Governor's right hand man.
"Lori?"
This is basically a repeat of the cover, but I still didn't see it coming for some reason. I just couldn't see how that cover was going to come about based one everything going on in the issue and eventually forgot about it half way through. Hard to believe I was shocked by something that was blatantly on the cover, but I was and a testament to how good the storytelling was.
TINY TITANS #2
"What about Krypton?"
Tiny Titans is basically the DC equivilent of Mini-Marvels and just as cute and entertaining if you ask me. This is just one of the pages I enjoyed from this issue.
X-FACTOR #29
"Three's Company"
I probably should have posted the coversation between Jamie and Siryn for context here, but they basically just had a misunderstanding where she tried to explain she was pregnant and Madrox thought she was going to say she was leaving like Rhane and Rictor did and they both got in a fight over it. Monet oh so elegantly points out what probably, and did, happen between them in this aftermath conversation. You'd probably have to have seen Three's Company to get the joke though.

Yes, this is
X-Factor related. PAD wrote
Young Justice and this scene in particular. I was reading it randomly this week and didn't think nothing of the random nerts comment until this next moment...
"Nerts."
Is 'nerts' one of PAD's signature sayings or is it just a complete fluke I ran across it in this week's issue and in the Young Justice issue I was re-reading? It'd be interesting to see if it's something he's used frequently over his career, but I can't think of any other instance of it.
The other reason I liked this scene, aside from the random 'nerts' usage, is the whole hand gestures bit with Madrox and Strong Guy. The random pauses between panels really makes the joke.
AVENGERS: THE INITIATIVE #10
"The New New New Warriors"
I wonder how this new New Warriors is going to affect the other new New Warriors team with their own book. Maybe one will call themselves the Mighty Warriors or something.
"Just when I thought I wasn't a D-lister anymore."
Poor Constrictor. He was actually starting to build a little cred with his recent appearances and then he goes and gets not one, but both arms sliced off. Thankfully, Forge seems to have an extensive collection of cybernetic arms laying about. I'd spring for the E-Z Bake Oven and Guitar Hero Arm versions that Bishop passed on. In all seriousness, two arms missing and there's two super powered alien arm weapon thingies running amok of the base. Any chance Constrictor might be acquiring some power-ups? Na, I didn't think so either.
"I guess they're just MP now?"
With so many acronyms flying around on Camp Hammond, someone was bound to lose an eye, or head in this case. I'm guessing since he was in the middle of this MVP sandwich that the one that died is the V.
"Y'know something, Ant-Man, you're good people."
Give us an Ant-Man / Taskmaster / Deadpool ongoing. Now. That is all.
"GET OUT!"
I wonder if they were doing it while she was in lizard form or if that was just a quick transformation after the fact? It's going to be a shame when Komodo finds out Hardball is a traitor. She's one of my favourite characters along with Cloud 9 and I'd hate to see her go all emo over him dumping / betraying / leaving the team.
"Gangsta style."
Cloud 9 really stepped up in this issue and it's hard to believe it's the same meek little girl from the first couple of issues.
GOTHAM UNDERGROUND #6
"You're touching me."
Say what you will about the quality of
Gotham Underground, but the treatment
Bane has received over the last couple issues has been the best he's been portrayed in a long time. Loved seeing someone actually acknowledge Bane once ruled Gotham and broke Batman's back.
Boomerang's reaction after touching Bane was great as well.
ANNIHILATION: CONQUEST #6
"Raccoonniverse...?"I don't want to know what the Raccoonniverse is or if it even exists. I just want to keep laughing at this line and hope it gets used in a similar fashion to "I am Groot.". I would have posted Groot's dramatic death, but it's hard to be dramatic when you've already set up his resurrection of sorts before said death. It was still pretty cool though with the whole trailing off "I am Gro--." as he exploded.
The Last Defenders #1
"DEFENDERS DEFENESTRATE!"I didn't read this issue, but saw the scan on
Scans Daily and, even out of context, this is too funny not post. Not sure who the
Ghost Rider imitator is, but that's the most random battle cry ever.
FANTASTIC FOUR #555
"Idiocracy"
All I could think of while reading this was the intro to the movie, Idiocracy, which you can view on YouTube by clicking here. It's intro set up the same argument as this moment does in that dumb people, like the stereotypical trailer park trash with 8 kids, a wife and a couple women he cheats on her with, breed more than smart people who put their careers and other intellectual pursuits ahead of reproduction. It's not a great movie, but it was overlooked by a lot of people and might be worth a rental if you're bored some night.

The guy in Last Defenders is Blazing Skull from the Invaders.
ZOMG, I almost died when I read what Dr Doom said to Stark. I'm waiting your CBM every week, but sometimes I think I should spare me some awesome moments like this for when I'll buy the trades.
I'm actually enjoying this "old" New Warriors story a hell of a lot more than the "new" New Warriors story. Which should tell you about the nosedive that book took after its debut. Another random question...how do read that huge stack of comics AND post reviews within a day. It'll take me 3 or 4 days to get through the same stack!
what makes that Defenders panel even more funny is that "Defenestrate" means "break a window".
@daniel woburn - holy crap, that's awesome. I just thought it was a made up word for their battle cry. From google define:
defenestrate - Historically, defenestration is the act of throwing someone or something out of a window.
Knowing that now and having him say that while coming through the window makes that scene that much better. Nice catch Daniel.
he first used the phrase (to the best of my very extensive x-knowledge) in the original wolverine mini by Claremont.
The first use of "nerts" that I know of pre-dates PAD's writing career at Marvel AFAIK. If you dig up your back issues of Crazy Magazine (Marvel's answer to "Mad"), there was a feature during the last 3-4 years called "Teen Hulk". I think it was spelled "Nertz" back then, and usually happened whenever the hero had back luck (which was all the time.)
I'll claim my No-Prize now. :)
