ANNIHILATION: CONQUEST #3
"Uni-Force, wherefore art thou?"
When Starlord's mini ended, I thought the killings were over with for that ragtag band of misfits. So, when they killed Gabe this issue, it caught me a bit off guard. He was badass in the Starlord mini and I thought they might have been grooming him to take Peter's place as the next Starlord based on everything he's been doing.
COUNTDOWN TO MYSTERY #4
"Breast reduction surgery successful."
The new / old Eclipso debuted in this issue of CtM, spinning out of the events from this week's Eclipso vs Mary fight in Countdown. It was a cool scene, but I don't see the point of switching back to the male version of the character after building up the Jean Loring version for so long. And it looks like he'll be a good guy or something, making it even weirder.
DETECTIVE COMICS #840
"Madness? This is GOTHAM!"
Taking a page out of Leonidus' playbook, Batman goes Spartan on Ra's' ass in this week's Detective. While I only have this scan of it, know that Bats laid a beat down on Ra's, kicked him out the window, forged documents and then locked him away in the nuthouse where he'll be kept drugged and incapacitated until someone eventually frees him. This issue almost made up for the abysmal Resurrection storyline.
MS. MARVEL #23
"Call me Ms. Carol Binary Marvelbird."
I'm not sure how long this return to the Binary look will last, but it was pretty cool to see. Hopefully she doesn't change her name to go along with this new look. She's had enough names to fill an entire Avengers team roster as it is.
THUNDERBOLTS #118
"Brains. The other, other white meat."
Probably the best moment this week came from Venom in this week's Thunderbolts. I haven't enjoyed Venom this much since he originally debuted back in Amazing Spider-Man #300. I'm not sure if it's just the art or if, with the symbiote in control, it's the alien's doing, but I like the return to the classic Venom look. I'm talking the way the eyes look. I hated the Scorpion 'eye within an eye' look.
TEEN TITANS: YEAR ONE #1
"Patience is a virtue. Unless you can move faster than light. Then it's a pain in the ass."
This page was perfect. The breakdowns, layout and art all blend seamlessly to show how painfully excruitiating it is for Wally to have to wait for something like someone typing a reply. The use of the clock ticking over, showing the sequence had been less than a minute long, was great as well. However, I'm just reminded of Bart and how pointless his forced aging and eventual death were when I see this. Still, great scene.
"Super-hero Jailbait. Don't let your girlfriend find out."
Another great scene from TT: Y1. Not much else to say about this one. It's funny, it's cute and fits perfectly with what a teenage girl from an all girl tribe of Amazons would do.

Agreed about Ms. Marvel.
although being the huge x-fan that I am, I wish should go back to being binary full time.
